ELEMENTS

On completion of the program, participants receive a Workforce Virtual Design and Construction certificate. The program follows four module elements:

VDC Concepts

VDC Application Experience

Participants design and manage a virtual project using VDC methods. For eight months, they develop and report through performance metrics on their project with monthly virtual calls to discuss with peers and mentors their progress. There is a one-day midpoint presentation at Stanford (virtually or in-person).

VDC Integration Experience

One-day at Stanford, which includes formal presentations of the project results, discussions of approaches taken, issues, surprises and insights; followed by a social event.

VDC Steward Experience

Alumni mentors in subsequent years.

PARTICIPANTS

The focus of this program is on two different groups of participants.

Dual-E Program

High school students who are interested in virtual design and construction and want to gain knowledge to be best prepared for their future work in the construction industry.

Apprenticeship Program

Workers already in the construction industry need to be brought up to speed educationally and become familiar with virtual design and construction in order to remain competitive.
